Props to PA - local reviews

This weekend I traveled to the rich land of Lancaster county, PA. It was a welcome change from the tight quarters of the city, and the noise. The first night I laid my head down on the guest pillow - I became aware that my ears were literally ringing, as if I had just been to a loud concert - in contrast to the quiet of the country.

The GREEN DRAGON was a large market where we perused fresh produce, and Woopie Pies. I also got a s'TON of Silly Bands which I intend to give to a lucky few :)

Going into the city for a little adventure - we made several significant stops. First to SQUARE ONE Coffee shop where we were treated to fresh pours of their own gourmet brew, and had a lovely chat with the owner about her attempt at staying unpretentious and yet cutting edge as a third-wave brewer.

We also checked out a place called City Folk where I found some amazing home decor - particularly Christine Morgan's Fiberworks pillows and ottomans.

Lastly we swung by Building Character - a collective of hardware, home wares, and vintage shops for un-real prices.

The over-all vibe of the weekend allowed me to drink in some new sites and savor some new foods. More inspired work coming soon...

One thing leads to another...

In a previous post - I was inspired by Ashley. Then Dani was inspired by me (and a little help/encouragement from her friends, I hear). I love this cycle!

2 things

I am very excited to be working on several projects right now. Stay tuned for a children's book, a coloring/craft/cook book and other publication ideas that have been popping up. I am so lucky to know many creative individuals that are constantly providing me with new inspiration and collaborating with me to actually get some stuff done!

I was recently reminded of Leonard Knight of Salvation Mountain Fame. I decided to write him a letter when I saw his address on the web site. I included the above coloring page of his lovely mountain. I am including crayons and a couple other drawings. I hope he likes them.
If you haven't been to Niland, but you ever find yourself in the California wastelands of the Salton Sea (in this case, not the Ocean) please pay this dear man a visit.

Learning about Catholic imagry

This image (above) is of a tapestry that I recognized (at least a replica of) in the recent Harry Potter movie. The original is rumored to hang at the New York Cloister Museum. I plan on visiting soon to take a gander at this, and more, classic Christian imagery.

Here is your activity for the day: The Rosary of Seven Sorrows.
For instructions on how to actually pray through this rosary you may check out [this site]

CLICK/PRINT/COLOR/CUT!

As always click to get the full size image, and print on setting "scale to fit media".

There are 2 ways to construct this project. (1) cut out each section of beads as a strand, and glue ends into the icon bead. OR (2) cut out each bead - no precision needed - crumple each into a ball, then string them together with a needle and thread. Look at sample image below for both styles...

Send in Your "Photos"!

Use this "digital" camera! Cary around with you for an afternoon/evening. See what you may observe - and send in your memories of what showed up in your view-finder! (Observations may be emailed to me, bonniekate@gmail.com, in jpg representations of YOUR drawings.)

Print on card stock (if available)
Cut the dotted lines (you may need a knife)
Make sure to use the wrist band so you don't loose your camera!
Draw what stood out to you the most!
