There are 2 ways to construct this project. (1) cut out each section of beads as a strand, and glue ends into the icon bead. OR (2) cut out each bead - no precision needed - crumple each into a ball, then string them together with a needle and thread. Look at sample image below for both styles...

I will validate the rumor. I have been to the Cloisters and have seen the above pictured tapestry... in the flesh!
