Can I think of anything?

...true,
honorable,
right,
pure,
lovely,
or admirable?
Things that are excellent?

The BIRD is the WORD

Self Portrait by Matt Anderson (of the red pant variety)

I went out to The Invisible Dog last night to see a performance by my friend Jen Mills and met THIS GUY. Long-story-short, his art is just as fun as he is!

Jen - doing her thing.

As an aside: This "self portrait" is pretty spot-on. In our initial conversation he commented on my nails, I responded by divulging that I had a desire to get licensed as a manicurist. His response was that I should hawk manicures - gesturing just as the bird is above. I kinda lurv it.

see you

I see you through a lens
through dark frames
boxing you in
while shielding myself

I see through your profile
through silhouetted personality
representing yourself well
while scrutinizing all possible dimension

I see you through a hard time
through screaming traffic
helping myself to another dose
while your time is depleted

I see you through a veil
through fine silk tulle
softening my gaze
while obstructing yours

I see
through...
you.

Favorites this year...

Here are my three favorite outfits from last weekend's festivities:

Lonnie as A John Baldessari
A surprising amount of people actually 'got' this...
Enough to make not-seeing any of them worth-while? The jury is out...

Co-worker cross dressed as Daphne Guinness
The high heels and custom wig really did me in.

My brother's family as A Rock Band!
My older nephew really got into it, including fake tattoos!
And check out that drum set! Brilliant!

Dear Diary,

I was told that I should write things out in order to fully experience my feelings and therefore learn to express things properly. So here it goes...

Tonight I will be going out. Some of the usual crew will be there, and some that I have not seen in too long. Besides these friends, and confidants there will also be someone new. This addition quickens the heart. I hold these palpitations directly responsible for the simultaneous desire to wear slips and stockings; sing along with vaguely romantic lyrics; and the continuous urge to check my 'face'.

In spite of how this may sound - he makes me feel like myself.

Wish me luck,
bk

Joey Ramona Quimby = totally brill'!

I am not sure how I feel about this completely.
Over the weekend my friend dressed up as the author of fashion blog, Style Rookie, and then I go online to discover nowness covering what that little girl wore as her costume! Many things run through my mind - like "wow, I love her costume idea - why couldn't I have thought of that?" and "what a simulacra within a simulacrum" or "am I getting old by pointing out the novelty of the whole thing?"...

Jesus Christ = the Anti-Pirate

"Take what you can, give nothing back" - Jack Sparrow

"You have heard that it was said, 'AN EYE FOR AN EYE, AND A TOOTH FOR A TOOTH.' But I say to you, do not resist an evil person; "..." love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,"
- Jesus Christ, quoted in Matthew 5 (NASB translation)

I went to a discussion group/book club last night. The topic at hand came from some writings on Love by Saint Augustine, or "Augustin" (however you like to pronounce it...)

~I've decided to edit my original text down to the following inspiration.~

"My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command." - Jesus Christ, quoted in John 15 (NIV translation)

"Give Your Self Away" - U2

"Thank you for the cross
Thank you for the cross
Thank you for the cross, my friend
Thank you for the cross
Thank you for the cross
Thank you for the cross, my friend
Thank you for the cross
Thank you for the cross
Thank you for the cross, my friend"
